I live in downtown Los Angeles CA and want to know if its legal to wear a bullet proof vest?

i understand convicted fellons are unauthorized for bulletproof vests, although i am a 2 time convicted juvenile felon. i am 18 and almost turning 19.. im off probation and had a gun pointed at my face 2 days ago and was not wearing a vest that i own. ive never been stoped by cops with it but if i was to get stopped by police i would tell them i have the humane right to live..to preserve my life into the existing.. who wants to die? even a suicidal is afraid to kill himself
