What colors schemes should be used with a dark brown?

My fiance and I have painted all of the rooms in our newly acquired home. For our bedroom we painted all of the walls a dark (mocha) brown. My fiance loves this color but I think we need to lighten up the room a little. We do have orange (rustic orange color) window accents and a mocha/orange/tan bedding. I was thinking of painting a tan border around the upper portion of the walls maybe 4" thick and applying a varnish to the ceiling. Please let me know of your thoughts as to what colors may work and how to lighten up the space. Thank you, any URL's would be great as well.
