Macaw as a good pet for a Teen ?

I had a Parakeet and lovebird pair As a Little one , My mom bought them before i was born . We took care a friends Sun conure for a year when she lived in a apartment . Last Year we had a atoo , I developed an Allergy to the Powder Dust . We had to re-home him . Our friend has a Blue and Gold Macaw , and she never has any problem with Dust from her just a few feathers a day ( from preening ) We would like to get a Green-wing , since we already have the Big Cage . We would like to know of any personal Experience . I have no allergy problems when we are at our friends house playing with her Bird . We have this thing pretty planned out well , my mom will take care of the bird when i go to college and im not going to one to far away just and hour or so .
